Waste not, want not...

(Really) stale bread...
eggs from my friend's chickens...
just enough butter in the frying pan...

= eggy bread!
We have loads of other ways of using up stale bread too - but what are your favourites?

Make crumbs and freeze them for use later. Make croutons for your soup.
I love bread and butter pudding but DH doesn't so it isn't something I make.

Bread and butter pudding too!
I first had eggy bread when I was a Girl guide, and still make it occasionally.

Mmmm...we have always called this French toast...and it's my all time favorite breakfast. You've made me hungry for it. ; )

I make breadcrumbs for nut - roasts, which altho' recipes vary are usually about one third ground nuts to two thirds breadcrumbs.
Btw, did you know you can make bread-and-butter pudding with stale brioche? I have never tried, but it sounds yummy.
Happy day, thrifty friend!
